ASPECT | OCULUS, a joint venture partnership of two of Australia’s leading Landscape Architecture practices, in association with Studio Nield joined Lendlease to re-master plan the Victoria Harbour site. Located on the western edge of Melbourne’s CBD within the Docklands Area, Victoria Harbour is a unique peninsula landform extending west from Docklands Park to the base of the Bolte Bridge. The 30 hectare site is bounded by the Yarra River and the Victoria Harbour Dock. The site has two distinct ‘base’ conditions – wharf structure on the edges, and terra firma (solid ground) in the centre.
The finished Master Plan distils the significant body of work into a clear and legible document that will guide Victoria Harbour into the future.The Master Plan is the key design reference document under the Development Agreement between Vic Urban and Lend Lease and is the primary point of reference for design related matters.
ASPECT | OCULUS has undertaken the design and documentation for the public realm of Stage 1 of the development. This includes the extensions of main streets, Bourke and Collins Street, Water Plaza, Dock Square and Australian Wharf South. The centrepiece of the Victoria Harbour development will be Dock Square a new public park and square for Melbourne and the Docklands community. A new public library, extended tram line, and a boating hub as well as high density commercial and residential built form will frame the new urban place.
