2016 – ASPECT Studios Brisbane’s year in review
aspect-qld-dec-post-year-in-review-1   It’s hard to believe another year is drawing to a close - and what a productive one it was for the Brisbane Studio. It was also our first year under the ASPECT Studios banner and brought with it lots of exciting opportunities that have consolidated our reputation as a Studio that represents diversity, experience and versatility throughout our practice and project portfolio.   What better way to remember the year than to scroll through our iPhones - they capture in pictures the year that was 2016!   Looking back, we can see that our range of work continued to be far-reaching and accomplished. Highlights include our involvement in the Nature Play space through Studio Director Deb Robbins’ participation as an industry expert for Nature Play Queensland in their 'Educators Series' workshops. As part of our dedication to knowledge exchange, we also conducted community consultation days and workshops and participated as invited guests at industry events. This was all part of our commitment to ensuring our work is relevant and collaborative.   It was also a big year for realising many projects at John Paul College – a school that strives to embed learning experiences in everything it does. We created many outdoor learning niches, a nature-rich Early Learning Centre and play areas to encourage physical activity.   We were also involved with the contract administration on 1 William Street to help ASPECT’s Adelaide Studio, which has guided this project to its completion. Other highlights include a number of large-scale high-rise residential projects in Sydney; a study on the urban realm surrounding the Gabba; a delux cinema in Hawthorne, Brisbane; a key community park in Sydney’s Double Bay and a master plan for a site in Queensland’s Deception Bay with an amazing cultural heritage of sandstone carvings. Although it’s yet to be verified, they are possibly of South Sea Islander origin.   This is just a snapshot of what our busy office got up to in 2016. We know there will be more exciting and diverse opportunities coming up next year! We take this opportunity to wish you all a happy holiday season and we hope the New Year brings you health and happiness.   Best wishes, ASPECT Brisbane Studio 2016-in-photos
