ASPECT Studios Keynote Presentation at 2016 China High-Quality Residence Design & Technology Congress
China High-Quality Residence Design & Technology Congress 2   ASPECT Studios is highly regarded for designing spaces where people want to be and our recent keynote presentation at the 2016 China High-Quality Residence Design & Technology Congress was aimed at introducing how we create activated spaces through people-oriented design.   Our Shanghai Studio Director, Stephen Buckle, and Business Development Manager, Vivi Xie, delivered the keynote presentation at the two-day Congress, which provides a platform for international professionals and leading developers to share their thoughts on residential development in China. The Congress was hosted by the leading business facilitator in the Asia Pacific Region, Global Business Engine.   Our presentation explored our key considerations when creating activated spaces, such as safety, comfort and health. A strong sense of equality, engagement and authenticity were also identified as essential characteristics of our people-orientated designs.   Stephen and Vivi highlighted some of our recent projects to illustrate our approach. The award-winning Vanke Chongqing Xijiu Plaza at the centre of Shipingqiao retail hub, for example, is an urban mixed-use development comprising residential and LOFT towers. The design captures the site’s heritage and its distinct topography, with the Chongqing mountains and rivers reflected with graphic pavement patterns, linear water features, raised planters with integrated timber seats and concrete steps forming a semi-enclosed space. Three large Jacaranda trees in the centre island also provide shade and hold the site within a human scale against an urban backdrop.   One Central Park in Sydney was also shown as an example of a successful activated space. This high-profile project, which comprises two residential towers and a lower retail centre, has received a number of awards and features the largest green facade in Australia. Along with our joint venture partner, OCULUS, we were engaged to develop and deliver designs for the project’s facades, as well the internal foyer for Block 5, the sunken courtyard and atrium planting for Block 2.   China High-Quality Residence Design & Technology Congress 3 Return to News
