ASPECT Studios remakes iconic Sydney waterfront landscape

The design of Bell's Foreshore has been implemented following the vision of East Balmain Foreshore Master Plan to create a memorable water front space which embraces the location and celebrates its historic importance as the initial point of urbanisation on the Balmain peninsula.

The landscape and 1880's sandstone Fenwick and Co. building have undergone significant transformation, revitalising the site into a new public park which is integrated with the adjoining Illoura Reserve (designed by Bruce Mackenzie) and Thornton Park landscapes.

Leichhardt Council commissioned ASPECT Studios as the landscape architects and NBRS as the heritage architects for this significant waterfront project. The new landscape emphasises the steep topography of the site to create a series of paved and turfed terraces, defined by sandstone walls cut from the site and planted with native and drought tolerant plants.
