ASPECT Studios wins 2 Victorian AILA Awards

ASPECT Studios is proud to announce our recent success at the 2009 Australian Institute of Architects Awards for the Victorian Chapter.   The two awards received demonstrated ASPECT Studios' expertise in strategic and detailed design projects and are a testament to the multidisciplinary approach we foster. Award for Planning in Landscape Architecture City of Stonnington Public Realm Strategy Jury Comments: 'Landscape architecture is increasingly playing a greater role in all parts of the public realm and not just parks. The Stonnington Public Realm Strategy provides a strategic vision for the entire municipality in addition to exploring the parameters of public space and the future demands for such spaces. ‘The jury was impressed by the comprehensive nature of the study. Research, analysis and theory were translated into a clearly legible report with plans and diagrams. The document provides the City of Stonnington with a strategic vision for the planning, design and management of open spaces across the municipality.' President's Award for Local Government Merri Creek Trail Signage Strategy Jury Comments: 'The Merri Creek Trail provides a key north south link passing through the cities of Moreland and Darebin. ‘The Merri Creek Trail Signage Strategy developed a suite of site specific signage of durable construction incorporating sustainability sourced materials and fabrication principles. Through good design, information is clearly displayed including the identification of local items of interest and site safety warnings. ‘The collaboration between both Councils and the consulting landscape architect is a feature of this project. The project illustrates the important role local government plays in addressing broad open spaces issues through site specific outcomes. The result is an enhanced open space experience for users of the park network. One that sees a holistic approach to outcomes that extends beyond the limitations of municipal boundaries.'   We would like to thank our clients in both of these projects for collaborating in pushing these projects beyond their original scope to fully realise their potential.
