ASPECT Studios in association with Roarkus Moss Architects and Groundplay has won a design competition for the Marion Cultural Centre Plaza.
The approach recognises the possibility for the space to bristle with the life, familiarity and relaxed nature of a big backyard.
Acknowledging the civic responsibility of the town square the site is transformed through extensively removing traffic and incorporating a series of green rooms linked by a finely crafted arbour that providing strengthened pedestrian connections and places to gather and relax.
The plan promotes opportunities for social interaction - a place that fosters togetherness, robust and relaxed conversation alike, a place for people to reconnect with their local condition on common ground.
Design development will be commencing in early 2013 with construction of the first stage to be completed by the end of 2013.
