High commendation at Timber Awards for Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk Extension

The Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk Extension received a high commendation at the recent 2010 Outdoor Timber Awards - Central area.   In addition this project won an excellence award at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Conference for the design and construction. Mayor of Waverley Council, Sally Betts, said: "Those who have walked this new section of the Coastal Walk will agree the views are spectacular and the walkway is an impressive piece of construction in difficult terrain." ASPECT Studios designed this elevated 515m boardwalk for Waverley Council to create a unique public experience and retaining unobstructed access along the clifftops for the 700,000+ visitors who use the walk annually. The result is a harmonious application of timber construction which harmonises with both the natural coastal vegetation and the significant historic and cultural landscape of the Waverley cemetery.
