Maarten has joined ASPECT Studios’ as Commercial Director and comes with a broad range of international and Australian experience. Prior to joining ASPECT Studios, Maarten held a senior role at West 8’s Rotterdam studio for 11 years. During this time, he was involved in high profile projects in London, UK and in Toronto, Canada. Most recently, Maarten has led his own landscape architecture studio based in Cairns, Queensland, Australia.

Maarten’s experience spans across a plethora of projects, greatly varying in nature, scale, size and complexity. In addition to his role as senior manager at West 8, which included overseeing the daily pursuits of office management, Maarten has over twenty years of experience in managing studios and practices including his own landscape architectural business for 13 years.

Maarten’s experience in London included project management for several large and complex urban design projects requiring a thorough understanding of the particularities and sensitivities of the strongly politicized local planning requirements and stakeholder consultation processes. Maarten’s international experience as well as his work in both urban and rural Australia has provided him with a broad and truly global outlook on landscape architecture.
