The MLC Centre and its surrounding podium form both an iconic landmark and an important pedestrian connection within the Sydney CBD. The podium and its steps constitute the primary street address for the MLC Centre and offer pedestrian links to King Street and the surrounding urban streetscapes and retail offerings of Martin Place, Pitt Street and Castlereagh Street.
The upgrades to the podium include retail and dining and together with the seating steps to Martin Place, they provide an additional layer of social amenity which responds sensitively to the established character of the MLC Centre.
Large precast bench seating, tables and planters provide a welcome setting for respite within the retail bound core and upper levels of the podium space.
Precast concrete furniture elements readily encourage social interaction, capitalising on popular gathering spots such as the Martin Place steps and preserving unobstructed movement through the bustling centre.
