Stimulating social activation

COHL Foshan Uni-Mall incorporates an innovative new water playground, high quality retail external interface, children’s nature play, community green space and an active river front food street. As a very complex mixed use retail and residential site, strong landscape linkages to the city’s metro and bus transportation network help ensure a vibrant and enjoyable journey home through the broader mall precinct.

The north side of the development is anchored by a spectacular world-class destinational park for Foshan and neighbouring cities. The playground will be the first interactive water based public play space in China, drawing on the precedent set by Darling Quarter in Sydney.

As our cities grow larger and more complex there is an increased demand for high quality public space. There is a pressing need to deal with the increased density of urban living at a time when open space is increasingly compromised. The environments we create must respond to people’s desires for more holistic living, embracing nature and opportunity.

In this project emphasis is placed upon reinvigorating the environment and stimulating social activation through a combination of place making and sustainable design initiatives.
