Fly-in fly-out (FIFO) work at remote mining sites is a significant part of life in Western Australia. Difficult work, isolation, and long stretches away from home and family are some of the pressures on the wellbeing of workers. The new Mungala Resort near Onslow in the Pilbara tackles these challenges head on.
ASPECT Studios’ landscape design for the project, delivered with Statuo Group, responds to the striking Pilbara landscape, celebrating local textures, tones and layered vegetation. Communal spaces, recreation areas, and amenity zones support resident wellbeing. Public spaces foster social connection, encourage activity, and offer respite from the demands of FIFO life, supporting mental health and a sense of belonging.
