How can cities be designed to better coexist with and enrich nature?

This will be the question asked by Matthew Mackay, Studio Director at ASPECT Studios in Melbourne, at a keynote presentation at the 2025 NBS Asia Symposium in Kuala Lumpur on 25 October.

Titled Urban × Biodiversity, the keynote explores how cities can be designed to coexist with and enrich nature. Matthew will discuss strategies to weave biodiversity into urban landscapes—through native planting, ecological corridors, and sensitive planning—while balancing growth and conservation to create healthier, more resilient, and life-supporting environments.

Drawing on projects including the Greenline and Prahran Square the session will highlight ASPECT’s commitment to creating urban spaces that support both people and nature.
