Kangaroo Point Green Bridge

Crossing the Brisbane River from the corner of Alice and Edward streets in the CBD to Scott Street at Kangaroo Point, the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge is a single-mast cable-stayed structure spanning approximately 460 metres. ASPECT Studios was tasked with making the most of the bridge’s landing points, which offer significant opportunities to enhance valuable pockets of riverside public space.

The city landing takes inspiration from the adjacent botanic gardens, while the Kangaroo Point terminus includes pocket parklets to the Scott Street connection, and stairs and riverside seating that act as an extension of the CT White Park Landscape.

The new connection supports more sustainable travel options and required a considered approach to site programming, ensuring minimisation of pedestrian and cyclist conflict, balanced with new opportunities to dwell and linger.

The cable-stayed pedestrian bridge will be one of the longest spans in the world. The design team comprises not only experts in bridge design and delivery, but also locals who have a sensitive understanding of Brisbane and its unique community.
