As part of the works, two interpretive elements were commissioned, one outlining the settlement and development of the early German immigrants who established Klemzig, and another focussed on the indigenous vegetation that existed pre-settlement.
The ‘Village’ concept is an array of scaled building forms to mimic the original layout of the first Klemzig settlement. The elements are fabricated from rusted metal and have three interpretive panels narrating some of Klemzig’s History.
The trunk element is a reminder to the community that the River Torrens was once a pristine and attractive waterway, supporting an array of flora and fauna. The timber bench is representative of the original vegetation and the harvesting and clearing of the timber for crops and construction.
