Collins Wharf Masterplan
The Collins Wharf master plan is a transformative strategy directing the revitalisation a former shipping harbour and maritime industrial precinct. The master plan outlines a path for the area to become the natural extension of Melbourne’s Central Business District, reconnecting the city with its waterways.
The site occupies a six-hectare peninsula within the Victoria Harbour precinct on the western edge of the CBD. The master plan extends the Collins Street boulevard, one Melbourne’s most important streets, into the area to create a strong link between the city and the Yarra River.

The site’s wharf perimeter will be transformed into a loop of broad promenades that travel alongside and above the water, creating a 1.2-kilometre cycle, pedestrian and fitness track.
Drawing on the site’s remnant biodiversity and maritime heritage elements, the master plan proposes a chain of parks ranging from an indigenous coastal reserve to community greens studded with native and exotic planting. These new green public spaces will serve both the CBD and new residents who move into the area as it develops.
This master plan will complete the Melbourne’s reconnection to its waterfront and begin a process of ecological repair.
