Bridge Road Regional Play Space
This major play space is an anchor for the ongoing development of a 4,500-home residential community on Melbourne’s western fringe, and a significant asset for the region's young people.
Covering approximately 3,300m² of the newly-created Toolern Creek Regional Park, the Bridge Road Regional Play Space achieves several ambitious objectives. It is unique in offering of a broad range of play opportunities, providing stimulating experiences for children of all abilities and their families. It seamlessly integrates with adjacent facilities, creating a sense of the wider park as a destination worth visiting. And it is a legible addition to a strategic streetscape, with indigenous planting, finely-crafted rockwork and eye-catching vertical play elements.

The all-abilities playspace is aligned with the Touched By Olivia principles of all-accessible play, and so accessibility sits at the core of its design. At the same time, independent play and exploration are promoted through nature play elements like rock climbing walls and water play areas, as well as deliberately unprogrammed spaces that invite imaginative uses. These qualities work to draw in visitors from an extended catchment, ensuring the playground and the park are humming with activity throughout the year.
