Box Hill Gardens Multipurpose Space & Track
This innovative space offers a diverse range of recreation activities and events within the historic and much-loved Box Hill Gardens.
A key feature of ASPECT’s design was the reuse of the former tennis court club building. Part of the clubhouse has been retained and transformed into a bank of seating platforms that overlook the playing surfaces. A new toilet block was strategically placed behind the rebound wall to be convenient to all parts of the park. New recreational fields pivot around a large native tree which was retained as a centrepiece for the gardens.

The resulting site functions both as a community space and a home for multiple sport and recreation activities. A dynamic and engaging supergraphic defines the play areas and creates a recognisable and playful destination for what is an ever growing community.
A one-kilometre-long path for walking and running was also incorporated into the project design. The path travels around the gardens, starting and ending in the multi-purpose area.
