Our vision for the redevelopment of Capalaba Town Centre is to create a thriving, sustainable community hub that celebrates and preserves the natural beauty of the area, while fostering a sense of connection and belonging for its residents. By preserving significant fig trees, promoting biodiversity and creating a design that reflects the diverse cultures and ecologies of the region, we aim to create a place for life that tells a positive story.

Bringing a sense of intimacy and human scale to the design is a response to some of the weaknesses of the site’s current condition, which is defined by large, featureless buildings and a lack of greenery.
At the same time, the site’s location between major roads, large retail centres and community facilities has resulted in a need for the town centre to be a human-scaled place of respite and transition. The design thoughtfully considers the massing of space, planting and materials to positively influence the future of Capalaba.
