Lightsview Estate
An environmentally-sensitive landscape is the basis for a life in touch with nature at the Lightsview housing estate in Adelaide's Northgate. Of particular note is the Precinct 3 Linear Park, a key recreational and biodiversity asset for the estate's residents and the wider community.

The foundation of the project were Water-Sensitive Urban Design principles, which were used to form the design of three wetlands, a series of ephemeral basins, a formal lake (fed by filtered stormwater from the wetlands) and a number of raingardens. Activation of the open space was a key goal, with new activities and destinations proposed, including a variety of play spaces along with a dedicated shared youth space.
The basins were optimised and identified for improved functionality, providing exciting opportunities for a range of activities including large community events. Tying the precincts together is an extensive cycle and pedestrian network which connects park goers and residents from their homes to the new cafe or public transport nodes. It also includes an educational interpretive trail which articulates the water treatment, biodiversity and culturally important elements of the open space network.
