NSincere World Financial Centre
ASPECT Studios made a vibrant and meaningful contribution to the public realm and urban fabric of Qingdao with this design for the World Financial Center.
Located at the heart of the bustling Laoshan District, the complex is intended as the new heart of financial services in Qingdao. ASPECT Studio’s design was conceptualized as a beacon within the city that would be a natural place for people to come together to play, connect, and engage in commerce.

The overall development integrates high end corporate headquarters, office environments, shopping destinations, food and beverage outlets, serviced apartments, and co-working spaces. In order to harmoniously knit these various functions into a cohesive whole, ASPECT Studios embarked on a deep research process that revealed the competing needs and desires of people in Qingdao, from office workers to young families.

The result of this research and a rigorous design progress is a complex but welcoming landscape that offers a blend of programmed and non-programmed spaces, all unified by a common design language and a streetscape that invites people to linger and make it their own.
In keeping with the concept of the centre as a “beacon,” the project is bookended by two Light Plazas along Qinling Road. These flexible spaces, with a distinctive paving scheme inspired by light diffracting within a prism, give the landscape an identity distinct from the towers, and provide a generous setting for any number of public events.

Elsewhere, the landscape design brings in several discrete elements that contribute to the overall impact of the project. The rhythm and movement of planted terraces on the Qinling Road retail frontage breaks down the repetitive monotony of the streetscape, creating and green skirt for the entire project. A collaboration with artist Lindy Lee takes the form of two public artworks that reference the heavens. Across the precinct, bespoke social seating defines each area and invites the public to make the area their own.
