Last Friday we had the opportunity for a group from across our Australian studios to gather for the 2022 National Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) Awards, held this year on Country in Meeanjin / Brisbane. We are delighted to say that we picked up a National Landscape Architecture Award for Civic Landscape with the Mitcham Library and Hawthorn Reserve Upgrade on Kaurna land in Adelaide!

The project included the reorientation of the library to maximise it's connection to the reserve and the upgrade of the adjacent Brownhill Creek, with the concept for the creek works centred on returning a stone lined channel through the memorial gardens, to a naturalised creek bed.

This year’s jury commented that “This project is a wonderful demonstration of integrated civic design and environmental engineering....Coupled with the integrated public realm surrounding the library, this important civic asset has been transformed into a significant destination for the people of Mitcham and surrounds by the incorporation of nature.”

We would like to thank the jury, plus a hearty congratulations to our team, our collaborators as well as our industry peers who also received awards last week.
