At this year’s American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Conference in New Orleans, ASPECT Studios’ Global Design Director Kirsten Bauer joined Grant Fahlgren and Kelty McKinnon from PFS Studio to explore how landscape architecture can evolve through collaboration and co-creation with Indigenous communities.
Their session, “Answering the Call to Action: Transforming Practice for Co-creation”, examined how practitioners in Australia, Canada, and the United States are responding to ASLA’s call to integrate Indigenous perspectives into design practice.
Drawing on lived and professional experience, the panel shared insights into mentorship, partnership, and reciprocity, offering lessons for reshaping practice and building collective cultural capacity.
Held on 10 October 2025, the session reflected the conference theme, Beyond Boundaries, by amplifying international perspectives on designing with, not just for, Indigenous peoples.
