Situated on a raised podium the central courtyard of the Jaques Avenue development is the primary outlook for the majority of apartments. It is designed to work as a communal green space and light trap, to be viewed and not entered.
Shoreline layers are translated through design into a series of landscape strips that contain feature planting and materials to be experienced in both plan and elevation. The strips are filled with water, endemic coastal plants and local materials.
The planting is designed to allow light into the residences and to create privacy. Private courtyards extending from residential units use plantings of bamboo and native trees in conjunction with timber and perspex screens to create generous external living areas, and steel frame pergolas with climbing vines act as a further privacy measure.
The existing street trees along Jaques Avenue are supplemented by additional planting of Paperbarks (Melaleuca quinquenervia).
