The municipal model is used to visualise Council’s structure plan (proposed built form) and assess the visual impact of DAs. With accurate contour information and vegetation GIS data, the model provides a truthful depiction of the City of Banyule.

The Banyule City Council’s municipal model is the consolidation of individual virtual reality (VR) models that ASPECT Studios have been providing the Banyule City Council since 2006. The Council actively uses its municipal model in its urban planning projects and development application (DA) assessments. The municipal model contains a digital terrain model (DTM) of the entire municipality (63 square km) and the VR models of the Heidelberg, Ivanhoe, Bell St and Rosanna activity centres.
