23 kilometre freeway bypass

ASPECT Studios worked closely with VicRoads to develop a robust planting design framework and a quality community communication package to inform local and regional residents.

The Geelong Ring Road is a 23 kilometre freeway bypass around Geelong, Victoria’s second largest city, consisting of four sections extending along the northern and western non-urban edge of Geelong, from the Princes Freeway to the Surf Coast Highway. By providing an infrastructural border to suburban growth, the design reinforces growth management and creates a residential landscape edge to the city.

ASPECT Studios’ role extended from being part of the original team of consultants that provided landscape and visual impact assessment advice on proposed routes and the final freeway alignment, from presenting at planning review panels, to preparing the design framework, concept designs and visualisations for the majority of the freeway.
