Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria’s (RBGV) new wayfinding and interpretation system is a seamless blend of physical and digital design, aimed at enhancing the experience for over 2 million visitors each year.

With a First Peoples-led approach, the wayfinding system is an experience on its own. The System supports a positive user experience, guiding visitors through the space, telling the story of the gardens' past and present, encouraging visitors to pause, engage, and connect with its layered history and local language, creating an immersive experience for new and returning visitors.

Through a combination of thoughtful design, practical navigation tools, placemaking, and digital interpretation, the wayfinding system weaves together historical narratives and practical information, creating a journey that connects visitors to the rich story of the Gardens while helping them explore its natural and cultural heritage.
