The Greenline Project
The Greenline project will transform central Melbourne through the creation of an iconic new parkland and urban promenade within the city. The project is designed by ASPECT X TCL, a joint venture that brings together two of Australia’s leading landscape architecture and design studios.
Covering a 4km-long stretch of the north bank of the Yarra River – Birrarung as it traverses the centre of the city, the Greenline will create and connect a series of ecologically and culturally rich spaces that connect people, the city, and the water.

The wide scope of the project will see it carve out a ribbon of green spaces linked by an active transport corridor and pedestrian promenades.
The Greenline will constitute an important act of reconciliation, acknowledging through design the millennia-old relationship between the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People and the Birrarung. Indigenous elders, designers, researchers, and artists are integrated with the design process at a fundamental level, enabling the expression of their stories and culture.
