Scarborough Beach Park Southern Upgrade

ASPECT Studios produced a master plan for this regional esplanade park on the Redcliffe Peninsula in late 2010. The master plan included designs for passive and active recreation activities that would appeal to a broad cross-section of the community, with the capacity and adaptability to service the intense use and visitation associated with annual events.

The rehabilitation of the foreshore was a key part of the project. The park was also carefully designed to complement the business activities of the nearby Scarborough Village.
  • TRADITIONAL OWNERS & ONGOING CUSTODIANS OF THE LAND Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi, Kabi Kabi) and the Ningy Ningy people (Ningi Ningi, Ninghi Ninghi), part of the Undambi people
  • CLIENT Moreton Bay Regional Council
  • LOCATION Scarborough, Queensland, Australia
  • YEAR 2010 -2017
The structures and other facilities were designed to be accessible for people of all ages and abilities. The circulation system was totally redesigned to negotiate the variable terrain, while shelters, picnic and barbecue facilities and play areas were included to make the park a natural home for outdoor activity.

ASPECT Studios led a small team of subconsultants through subsequent detailed design and documentation of the first two stages of the master plan.
