We’re thrilled to share that St Barbara’s Square and Laneway, the centrepiece of the new Kalgoorlie City Centre, has been awarded the Great Place Award in the 2025 National Awards for Planning Excellence, presented by the Planning Institute of Australia.
This recognition celebrates places that foster connection, inclusion, sustainability, and a strong sense of community—and we’re proud to be part of a project that does just that.
A collaboration between the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, an ASPECT Studios-led design team that included Element Advisory, Iredale Hook Architects Josh Byrne & Associates, and the First Nations community, the project energises central Kalgoorlie by creating a network of connected public spaces, fostering daily activities like social gatherings, play, outdoor dining, and entertainment.
