Victorian Desalination Project – Green Roof Receives Top Award

ASPECT Studios continues to be recognised for successful sustainable design with the Victorian Desalination Project - Green Roof receiving the Green Roofs Australasia Design Award at the 2012 Greening Cities Conference in Melbourne on 28th November.

This was given for excellence in green roof design. The awards committee provided the following commendation:
β€œThe green roofs in the Victorian Desalination Project are currently the largest installation of extensive green roofing in the Southern Hemisphere at 26,000 sqm. They demonstrate the integration of landscape with architecture, assist with the mitigation of visual impacts, as well as providing other benefits for the coastal site near Wonthaggi in Southern Gippsland.”

Senior Associate Warwick Savvas was presented with this award at the recent Greening Cities Conference in Melbourne, where he spoke about ASPECT Studios approach to green infrastructure as 'living architecture', and show cased some of our projects that incorporate green roofs and green facades. These included Kangan Institute Automotive Centre of Excellence - Stage 2, Docklands; One Central Park, Sydney; Euneva Avenue, Glen Waverley; as well as the Victorian Desalination Project Green Roof.
