Integrated Transport and Land Use Plan for Greater Adelaide
Aspect Studios SA_01   We applaud the South Australian government’s steps to improve the efficiency of the state’s public transport network. Its rollout of further planning studies for the Integrated Transport and Land Use Plan for Greater Adelaide focusing on the Electrification of Adelaide’s Public transport Network will undoubtedly mean that a far better connection between inner-urban Adelaide and the city centre is now much closer to becoming a reality and we are inspired by the potential of what this will bring to our great city.   ASPECT Studios has been fortunate to play a key part in some of Adelaide’s most progressive inner-urban redevelopments to date. This includes assisting Renewal SA with the transformation of inner-city land in Bowden from industrial use to a vibrant new community, the centrepiece of which is the recently completed Main Park.. watch this space for more details on this project in the near future. This follows on from the highly successful creation of a new public realm for Hart’s Mill Surrounds in Port Adelaide. This area now accommodates extensive recreation, picnic and barbeque areas, and multifunctional spaces for events and markets. We are also proud to have taken on such a significant role in the revitalisation of some of Adelaide City’s forgotten Park Lands sites such as Tulya Wodli (Park 27b). Aspect Studios SA_02   With our connection to these redevelopments, we are passionate supporters of the Integrated Transport and Land Use Plan. We believe it will encourage high-quality, sustainable inner-urban living serviced by an equally high-quality and efficient new public transport system.   Improved public transport is central to the plan with the development of the new tram-network AdeLINK. In combination with the electrification of the city’s rail network and improvements to the bus network, it will revolutionise how the people of Greater Adelaide connect with the city.   Aspect Studios SA_03   These extensive changes to Adelaide’s public transport system, along with the strengthening of the main arterial transport routes, such as the North-South Corridor, for which we have also recently completed the design phase for the Torrens-to-Torrens section, and the inner and outer suburban-ring routes, will place Adelaide in good stead to foster flourishing communities through a new generation of urban expansion.   These changes will also ensure infrastructure is built in and coordinated with the needs of South Australia’s freight-movement corridors. We see this as being essential to Adelaide’s primary industry-based economy, which will make the overall plan a key driver of economic and urban development and assist in achieving the state’s broader environmental and social objectives.   In short, we see the Integrated Transport and Land Use Plan for Greater Adelaide as a win-win for all. It will serve as a catalyst for further urban regeneration and development projects that are healthy, people-centred, sustainable and economically viable and we look forward to continuing our involvement with the South Australian government in these transformative projects.   Images courtesy of the Government of South Australia
